What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? In a world filled with distractions, God calls us to give Him our full attention, offering ourselves wholly in devotion and service. Yet, surrendering our time and priorities to Him isn’t always easy—it requires a heart transformed by His Spirit. As Scripture reminds us, a life of sacrifice is an act of worship, a testament to faith, and a reflection of our relationship with Christ.

Are we a living sacrifice?

A Living Sacrifice

I believe God desires our undivided attention, which can be achieved through a personal relationship with Him. I also believe that this is why we were created in His image—to become His sons and daughters!

However, this does not come to us naturally, as we are carnal. It requires His Holy Spirit in us so we can walk with Him daily, putting Him first—which requires our time.

Time is the one thing we seem to never have enough of, and the one thing we are reluctant to give up or sacrifice. Sometimes we don't understand, and other times we simply choose worldly things first.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:1-2, KJV
"By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." Hebrews 13:15-16, KJV

Yet, a relationship with God is more than outward expressions—it's about truly knowing Him. Jesus warned that many would claim to follow Him but lack a genuine relationship. His words in Matthew 7 are a sobering reminder of what truly matters, and the one thing I never want to hear from my Lord when He returns is:

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? And in Thy name have cast out devils? And in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:22-23, KJV

Living Sacrifice Reflection

What does it truly mean to be a living sacrifice in today's world? Are we prioritizing God daily, or do we find ourselves distracted by worldly concerns? May we continually seek His presence, offering our lives wholly to Him. A
