Have you ever had one of those days when you especially appreciate Mark 9:24, when the desperate father cries out to Jesus, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Although this man was pleading for help with his ill son, we've all experienced this sense of spiritual impasse—wanting to move forward in belief, yet being pulled back by doubt and unbelief. It's like a tug of war where there's no movement, both sides dug in, not wanting to give an inch. This is when we cry out to God in our own way, considering our own unique circumstances, and say exactly what that father said. It's during these times that we need a faith reset.

Be the reason someone smiles: Faith Reset

What Most Faith Reset Articles Won't Tell You

I'm sure if you did a Google search for "how to do a 3-minute faith reset," you'd find helpful articles with step-by-step instructions. But I'd like to suggest a different approach—one rooted in a personal example of how God provides exactly what we need, exactly when we need it.

First, God's Word tells us that He knows our needs even before we ask (Matthew 6:8). Recently, I began to feel the need for a faith reset myself. I found myself questioning whether God had selected the right person for the founding role of this small Faith in Action Ministry in the Texas Hill Country.

I was quietly echoing that desperate father: "I believe... help me with my unbelief!"

When God Sends His Reset Message

But God knew what I needed to hear. Through one of His own ambassadors—an angel without obvious wings—He provided exactly the encouragement I needed.

In a simple text message, I read: "And you sir have a gift for lifting people up."

Ten short words. That's all it took.

In that moment, God sent a messenger to provide all the validation I needed to reset my faith. Suddenly, there was only belief that God has a mission for me... for you... for us together... to shine His Light and to lift up others.

The Key to a 3-Minute Faith Reset

Isn't that what we're called to do—edify others? To love others with the kind of agape love He has for us? As our team member Jim Putnam mentioned, agape love is the foundation of our efforts, both individually and collectively, at Faith in Action Ministry.

We are called to shine the Light of Christ in the Texas Hill Country and beyond. Here's what I've discovered about faith resets:

Knowing your God-given purpose is 90 percent of any faith reset.

And that little 10 percent boost? It will come at the most unexpected time, in the most unexpected way. But His signature will be unmistakable. You'll feel the goosebumps!

You don't need a complex formula or a lengthy process. Sometimes the most powerful faith reset happens in an instant—when God reminds you through His messengers (often other people) exactly who you are and why you're here.

Your Faith Reset is Coming

The next time you find yourself in that spiritual tug of war, remember:

  • God already knows what you need before you ask

  • He has messengers all around you (angels without obvious wings)

  • Your purpose is already established—you just need the reminder

  • The reset might come in the most ordinary moment

Keep your eyes open for those ten-word text messages, those unexpected encouragements, those divine appointments that remind you exactly why God placed you where you are. Or, perhaps God is gently nudging you to be someone else's faith reset? Be the reason someone smiles. :-)

Your faith reset is coming. His signature will be unmistakable. Feel the goosebumps?

Have you experienced an unexpected faith reset moment? Share your story with us—your encouragement might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today.
